We are 200...

Well I never! This is my 200th post! So I am having a very happy Un-Birthday for my little blog! (any excuse for cake!)
I absolutely, unashamedly, adore my blog! It has been so good for me! I started it just after I had MasterB. In the fog of a new baby, of a new upside down life, it was a precious creative space. I could show (mainly MrB) what I had done all day, I could show myself what I had done all day! It was my way of validating what I did away from the world of work.
As modern women we grow up with a sense of pride and identity, that is strongly connected to our intellect, our ability to work, to be independent, singular. When suddenly without a position in the working world, I felt adrift. Who was I, now? My blog helped me find, like, grow into the new me...
I have found and met some of the most kindred spirits, in BlogLand. You have made me smile, laugh, feel part of something bigger, encouraged me when I have felt flat, you inspire me with all your 'doings'! What would I do without you?!
So as I blow out the candle I thank all of you who pop into read me...thankyou!

And so on to my wee giveaway! Leave a comment and I will pick a lovely reader at random to send a "Mystery UnBirthday Gift" to! A just for fun, bakey, makey, homey, MrsB-y parcel of goodies?! I will draw the name on Good Friday!

BIG FAT KISSES...

love MrsB

Funnily enough, I am currently writing my views on feminism for a blog-debate on women's issues taking place in April. It's amazing that after such a long struggle for equality, women have come full cirlce, forging their own career to then stop working, instead turning to that amazing job of bringing up their babies themselevs. I hope I learn to make so many exciting things by the time I bring up my babies!

So glad your blog has helped you find your way through that in such a colourful and wonderful way! Happy 200th birthday!

Happy Blog Birthday!!! 200 posts is a fab achievement. I'm now a SAHM and started reading blogs about 6 months ago - they definitely give me inspiration and make me feel like part of something outside of our little cocoon that we call home.

Thank you for sharing your little world with us!

Hi MrsB! I am a long time reader/admirer, but first time commenter! I had my first baby last September, and on those long lonely night feeds I kept my iphone at my side and read your blogs. They got me through those cold, tired times!
I decided to take redundancy just before I left work to have my baby, and I was a bit scared about the road ahead as a stay at home mum...but reading about your adventures made me realise that this is the best job I could ever hope for!
Happy 200th blog - here's to many more. Emma

Hello Mrs B from another rather longer in the tooth Mrs B. I worked from the age of 16 until I had my 2 beutiful babes in the swinging 60s & hippy 70s and if I had had the chance to share my daily ups and downs with people like our lovely bloggers my world would have been a far more interesting and jolly place. SAHMs can be very lonely. Congratulations on your 200th post, I'll probably reach that when I'm 80... but I intend to get there.

I here you sister!! I stayed at home with my babies for many years, and then when I needed to return to work found myself very much like a fish out of water. I have since worked where it is convenient for family life - but not neccesarily great for my self esteem etc. However, like you I have learned that NO ONE should be defined by their job - don't ever be afraid to show who you are. And also like you - today I am 200!! Spooky!! PS my babies are now 17 and 14, and I still fit my life around theirs - and enjoy doing it. xxx

congrats!!!!!!!!!! I need to get back into this blogging thing! I'm feeling very lost in mummyland. and consumed by my sister and best friend wedding/ bridezilla. No word of a lie I just got a 1000 word email on if she should have cupcake cases or not...

MrsB! Congratulations on 200 posts!

I am very interested in what you said about the ways your blog has supported and reflected your 'new' roles, outside of a formal workspace.

I think the boundaries between public and private webspaces are shifting and blurring.

It's great that your blog can serve as a personal memoir (diary?), AND something for MrB to read (in the context of everything being described taking place in contexts he recognises... he's like the dad in 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea'), AND a public source of ideas and inspiration to readers known and unknown, the world over.

Keep at it! Sonya xxx
